Description & Services
Description of service(s) Description of service(s) Established as a means for people separated by adoptions that took place in New Brunswick to obtain information and/or be put in contact with each other.
The service maintains a Post Adoption Disclosure Register for adult adoptees (those age 19 or over), birth parents and adult birth siblings who want to contact each other. Contact can be facilitated when adoptees and birth relatives are matched with each other because both have placed their names on the register. Both adoptees and birth relatives can also request non-identifying information from the adoption file history and or searches for the person they are seeking.
In addition, adoptees, birth parents, the children of deceased adoptees and the children of deceased birth parents who had placed children for adoptee can apply for a Statement of Original Birth Registrations. Adoptees and Birth Parents are able to place Contact Preferences or Disclosure Veto’s on their file.
