Description of service(s) Saint John Port Authority (SJPA) is a government business enterprise responsible for the administration of the federal real property that is the Port of Saint John, New Brunswick, pursuant to the Canada Marine Act (1998, 2008). SJPA was established by virtue of Letters Patent issued by the Minister of Transport with approval of Governor-in-Council, pursuant to section 8 of the Canada Marine Act and effective May 1st, 1999.  
 
Saint John Port Authority also uses the brand name “Port Saint John”. 
Port Saint John is Atlantic Canada’s largest port and has a diverse cargo base, handling over 28 million metric tonnes of cargo annually, including dry and liquid bulks, break bulk, and containers. The geographic position of the port, its naturally hospitable people and historic attractions coupled with world-class tour operators, make Saint John an ideal Atlantic Canadian destination for attracting the world’s leading cruise lines to the Bay of Fundy.
