Description & Services
Description of service(s) The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation (SCCR) is a specialty, tertiary, Centre equipped and staffed to treat the most complex neurological conditions. These conditions include stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, and neuromuscular disorders such as muscular dystrophy, ALS and cerebral palsy. The Centre also provides treatment for the most complex forms of autism spectrum disorder.
Teams of rehabilitation specialists work together with patients to make sure that all aspects of a patient's needs are understood and addressed. The many professional disciplines collaborate daily to provide client- and family-centred treatment programs. Since we are part of the larger team of health service providers, we work closely with community, hospital based and social services so that the full range of benefits are available to patients. Also, since many of our patients are children we work closely with the school systems.
The goal of SCCR is, by including patients as part of the team, to achieve as much independence and self-direction for the patient as possible. This is done by combining medical and therapeutic skills as well as rehabilitation technologies.
SCCR provides services, in both official languages, to inpatients (there are 18 inpatient beds) and outpatients, and the Centre serves people of all ages in New Brunswick.
