Description of service(s) Athletics is often mistaken to mean a variety of sports. It is actually the European term for Track and Field and its affiliated disciplines. Athletics is a year-around sport with both summer and winter seasons. The sport of running, jumping, and throwing events, is the oldest in the world, and is also the basis for all sports. The skills learned in Athletics can be used, to some degree, in all other sports. 
 
Athletics New Brunswick (ANB) is the provincial organizing body for track and field, cross country running, race walking, and road racing. It is the official Branch of Athletics Canada. We offer programs to affiliated and non-affiliated participants annually, reaching some 8000 athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers across New Brunswick. We receive operational funding through the Sport, Recreation, and Active Living Branch of the Department of Municipalities, Province of New Brunswick.
