| Description of service(s) | PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE FUNDY LACROSSE ASSOCIATION INC. The Fundy Lacrosse Association Inc has adopted the following purposes and objectives. These purposes and objectives lead to certain policies which govern the operation of the Fundy Lacrosse Association Inc. through all divisions and levels and which are stated as follows: 1. Player Grouping Players differ in needs, abilities, and desire, and grouping into different skill categories is necessary in order to allow children to play with others who are similar in ability and desire. If grouping is not done, the better players dominate the play while some rarely touch the ball. The better player is not motivated to improve and less developed players are sometimes made fun of and are pressured to not make mistakes. 2. Emphasis on Fun and Recreation Lacrosse is a healthy form of recreation and must be attractive if the youth are to maintain their interest in Lacrosse throughout their lives. Too much emphasis on competition especially at the younger age levels results in "too much too soon" and detracts from the fun of the game. There must always be the elite teams to provide the opportunity for those with greater abilities, but they must not exist to the detriment of the majority who wish to play lacrosse for fun and recreation. The Fundy Lacrosse Association Inc. places major emphasis on play and "League" teams. 3. Equality and Fair Treatment All players must be treated as equals in all matters such as playing time and particularly at lower age divisions, given the chance to play different positions. These policies must take precedence over winning games. 4. Proper Coaching Philosophies The Lacrosse Coach, through their leadership, must recognize their responsibilities as a teacher of youth. S/he will set an example and will greatly influence the character development of their players. S/he must stabilize their emotions to meet adversity as well as success, ingrain in them the spirit of good sportsmanship, cultivate moral integrity as well as physical and skills development, and help to prepare the player for their place in society. Included in their philosophy must be well-developed attitudes toward the game, their fellow players, officials and the opposing players. 5. Avoid Excessive Rough Play Physical contact is an intimate part of Lacrosse and is one of the characteristics that makes it so attractive but anything beyond normal infractions of the rules must not be tolerated. A Lacrosse Program should provide the means for healthy, spirited competition and the onus to see that competition is sportsmanlike rests with the governing association and especially its coaches. 6. Proper Instruction in Lacrosse Players beginning in Lacrosse should receive concentrated instruction in the fundamentals of the game such as shooting, passing and checking. Properly trained players will enjoy the game more and maintain their interest for a longer time. The Association must select volunteer coaches with proper philosophies and attitudes and must then provide the means for the volunteer coach to obtain the tools necessary to do the job. This includes Coaches Certification Clinics, Special Clinics such as for goaltenders, teaching aids, etc. The Organization must be designed and maintained so that the coaches receive all necessary information, guidance, and supervision. |

Parents are required to sign the form and return it, along with the registration fee, in the self-addressed enevelope. | Fees | Program - Registration fee for tyke players is $55. For players in all other divisions is $145 for 1st child, $100 for 2nd child with a family plan of $290. ; Registration fee for mini-tyke players is $45, tyke players is $75. Registration fee for players who register after March 2nd will be as follows; mini-tyke $45, tyke $75, $165 first child, $120 second child and $345 family plan. Equipment cost is minimal since most people can use their child’s hockey gear. Initial equipment cost will be approximately $250 (arm pads, gloves, back/kidney pads and stick). Used equipment can also be purchased at All Sorts for All Sports located at 355 Hampton Road in Quispamsis (848-4327). |
